1 Peter 2:4-10

This morning we start our series on ‘Being Baptist’ looking at some of the distinctives of a Baptist understanding of church. In our post-denominational era – traditional boundaries are less important; but are there aspects of our Baptist heritage that are important to us as a community? What is it about being Baptist that shapes and influences the way we do church? Over the next few weeks we’ll consider some of the values Baptists have held since their beginnings: the priesthood of all believers, the importance of Scripture, the autonomy of the local congregation and the freedom of conscience. This series on being Baptist also coincides with some significant days in the Christian calendar: over the coming weeks we’ll be reflecting on Ascension, Pentecost and Trinity.
