This morning we continue with our series on Jeremiah: God’s Prophet, God’s Person. Today we’ll give attention to passages in book known as Jeremiah’s confessions. Beginning at chapter 11:18, the ‘confessions’ are scattered through Jeremiah into chapter 20. They are dialogues that Jeremiah has with God and as he struggles with his role as prophet when the people don’t want to listen. Similar to psalms of lament, Jeremiah doesn’t hold back on expressing his disappointment and anger towards God. The confessions give us an intimate insight into Jeremiah’s character and also God’s love for his prophet and his people.
