John 4:1-41

Today is the fourth Sunday of Lent. The season of Lent is the 40 days leading up to Easter (not including Sundays); it originated in the very earliest days of the Church as a preparatory time for Easter. By observing Lent we imitate Jesus withdrawing into the wilderness for forty days. It’s a good opportunity to reflect on who Christ is, and our identity in Christ as individuals and a community of faith. On Sundays during Lent we’ll use the Lectionary gospel readings to journey with Christ to the cross, and introduce a Lenten practice for each week to help us reflect on our identity in Christ.
