Today is the third Sunday in Lent – our series during Lent is called A Sent People – we’ll consider Gospel stories that remind us that God is both a ‘sent’ God and a ‘sending’ God. The Latin word for sending is missio – theologians talk about the ‘missio dei’, the sending, or mission, of God. During Lent we will be invited to consider what it means for us to be the sent people of God. Today we consider the story in Matthew’s gospel when Jesus sends out the disciples to the towns and villages in Galilee. The story invites us to see how we are invited to participate in the mission of God and consider the character or the ‘way’ of God’s kingdom.
